SO ABOUT MYSTERY MAN ZERO...

Wow, it's been over a year since my last update. That isn't very good, is it?

Every so often, I'll get an email or message from someone asking me what's going on with Mystery Man Zero. I never saw myself using RPG Maker again, so it was really painful telling people that the game will probably never get finished. But sometime last week, it crossed my mind, and with RPG Maker 2003 finally having a legal version  released forever ago, I decided to give MMZ another go and actually finish it this time.

I bought the program a couple of days ago and spent most of my time with it re-importing my resources to the "new" project. One by one. If it sounds agonizing, let me tell you, it was.

I got all that done, so now all that's left is to copy the maps over from the old version to the new one. I thought I could copy one map and then all of the maps under that 'family' would be copied too, but noooooo, I have to copy each map individually. Fun, fun, fun.

But I shouldn't complain. Even after all these years, people still care about this game, so it really means a lot. My plan is to write out the plot by hand and then transfer it to the game. I've been pretty good with handwriting stories first, so I'm hoping this will motivate me to finally finish this. If the story is finished at least, I can chip away at the other stuff until everything is done.

I'm going to throw in so many secrets and optional content, as a way of thanking people for bugging me about this for so long.

Hang in there y'all. A full-game will be released in 2018 AT THE LATEST, so help me God.

NEW NIGHTMARE DOWNLOAD!

Why does this always happen to me? So annoying. Anyway, in the old download, Buffy was supposed to equip Crossbows and while she could, the weapon would never level up. That's been fixed now, so if you want, here's a new download if you really wanted to equip her with a crossbow.

New Download

ETA 1/16/16

There was an issue with Matt's equipment, too. So yet another download has been added. Also, there was an annoying error that happened when you tried to scan an enemy after one's been killed. Hopefully that's also been fixed.

Luckily, you don't have to start over. Still, sorry for the inconveniences!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I finished A Nightmare in Sunnydale! Yay! And here's the download! =D http://www.mediafire.com/download/ajwevi24398vo8g/=ANISC=_(full).zip My miracle game. It survived TWO computer crashes. Given how much money it cost me to keep this game alive, you bet I worked to finish it! =D Enjoy!!!! If you don't, that's totally fine, too. Any comments/questions/complaints/rants you have, feel free to leave them here or email me at gholt188@yahoo.com

Nightmare Update

Aside from Dracula's ending, the writing for the game is all done. Dungeon construction is done as well, so all that's left is copying what I have written and pasting it in the game. I didn't write it "correctly," so the process is taking longer than I expected it to (I do this for Gatekeeper and it's a breeze), so the game is ~almost done. Are you excited??? I sure am. My last completed game was Complete Chaos, which was, uh, a while ago. I also started working on Mystery Man Zero again, which had some trouble a few days ago (it crashed >.<) but should be all right now. After Sunnydale is completed, it's a toss up between Gatekeeper and MMZ as to which one will be completed first.

I haven't written much for Total Chaos in the last few weeks. The project isn't dead! Far from it. I just haven't been motivated lately, but surely I will, soon. Writing is really mentally draining, you know?

PS: I added a bunch of Nightmare videos on my youtube channel! I'll get around to adding them here when I feel like it (probably tomorrow).

What you are looking at here is a gameplay video of a project that is scheduled to follow 'A Nightmare in Sunnydale'. It happens to be called GATEKEEPER. This video was recorded during the last week of 2012. A few things have changed since then, but this is pretty much the gist of it.

Here are a few things you should know about Gatekeeper.

- It's an RPG.
- It's a cyberpunk RPG.
- It's a cybperpunk RPG with elements of fantasy and New Age philosophy. There may be some creepy bits thrown in there, too, by the way.
- It continues the sandbox gameplay that 'Sunnydale' has. Also has branching pathways.
- There will be a total 13 playable characters, and you can swap any of them in/out of your party at any time, battles included. There will also be two hidden characters for your chosing, potentially bringing the number of PCs to 14.
- It may or may not have a New Game+ feature.
- It was inspired by the Sierra games of old, specifically Rise of the Dragon. The Gabriel Knight series was also an influence -- and, at risk of sounding vain, Onyx! Futhermore, as you can see, it borrows its look from Vanity (remember that game?)
- Gatekeeper will be different than my other games because it is more plot-driven than character-driven, which is pretty nice for me but this is so that I get this game out in timely matter, and can finally say farewell to RPGM (I'll just be playing games instead).

Before I depart, here's a summary for your reading pleasure!

Ganymede's mortal life was cut short when he was killed in the middle of graduating college. Soon after, he is given another chance at life as a GATEKEEPER, gifted individuals who harbor inside them souls of a god-lite entities. Under the guidance of Dr. Dylan Perry, Ganymede learns about himself and his powers -- as well as befriend others like him. When the presence of another gatekeeper shows up on Perry's radar, Ganymede and his friends race to find this individual before The Dark Child does, a fearsome foe who will stop at nothing to rid the world of gatekeepers, despite being a gatekeeper herself. The mission takes a horrific turn when they are too late, and Ganymede's life is once again turned upside down. With his back against the wall, he is forced to fight back, but at what cost? And is The Dark Child his true enemy? Furthermore, what is Eden and what role does it play in all this? How can Ganymede save reality when it is his very existence that disturbs it?

GATEKEEPER is a high-modern tale that combines cyperpunk, fantasy, drama, and New Age philosophy to deliver an RPG with more twists and turns than a pretzel.

VANITY: EXTENDED DEMO (Coming Now!)

Hello all! Vanity's demo that I promised you like 20 months ago? Well, it is here now! Sorry for the procrastination. Life + other duties got in the way, you know how that goes. ;)

Anyway, enjoys! Any comments, questions, rants, death threats, etc, can be placed right here on this blog OR emailed to me at: Eikichi@juno.com

I look forward to hearing from you!

- A Clyde

PS: Stuff about the new demo:

- It's twice as long (the original demo wasn't that long, don't worry)
- You get to actually choose your pathways
- Balance issues fixed
- Plot-holes/dialogue addressed
- I changed the way some of the pictures were presented to give them a slightly more...'unified' look, if you will.
- There is a 'chart' Book that you can access from your menu screen that will explain the strengths and weaknesses of each element (since the game doesn't use traditional elements like "fire, water...etc".
- A new title screen

And of course, the mainstays:
- Colored arrows to direct you to your next destination (in addition to hints)
- When backtracking you can skip battles - meaning you don't have to flee from the same enemies over and over

VANITY: EXTENDED DEMO (coming soon)

If all goes well, this will more than likely be my next completed project...after years upon years of hiatuses.

I've been so focused on other things (and real life, ykwim?) that I've been doing much with my RM stuff, but I intend to work on this a little bit each day until I finish this!

Stuff you should know:

Some stuff about the new demo:
- It's twice as long (the original demo wasn't that long, don't worry)
- You get to actually choose your pathways
- Balance issues will be fixed
- Plot-holes/dialogue issues addressed
- I changed the way some of the pictures were presented to give them a slightly more...'unified' look, if you will.
- There will be a 'chart' that you can access from your menu screen that will explain the strengths and weaknesses of each element (since the game doesn't use traditional elements like "fire, water...etc".
- A new title screen

And of course, the mainstays:
- Colored arrows to direct you to your next destination (in addition to hints)
- When backtracking you can skip battles - meaning you won't have to free from the same enemies over and over

So that's all for now!

Never mind, I lied. Here's yet another title screen:

NASTY BUG in 'Manos' fixed

Hello all!

If you were playing as Margaret, battle was supposed to take place in the Chapel but instead the game crashed (for those who didn't have VX).

Well, there was a problem with the enemy's graphic, but it has been fixed now. So, the game SHOULD be working as normally. I tried it and tested it, and it worked for me.

Here is the new download link:

COMPLETE CHAOS on the track to become my highest downloaded game of ALL TIME!

According to MediaFire -- Complete Chaos: Special Edition, in just four months, has received 10,100 downloads as October 26, 2010. I never expected the downloads to reach this high! I wish I knew where the huge downloads were coming from, but a las, perhaps in due time. In any case, I hope everyone is enjoying the game and mucho thanks to everyone who downloaded!

Onyx 2 learns a lession in "giving less to provide more"!

For some reason, today I was playing through my old games (Onyx, Onyx 2 and Total Chaos). One of them made me cringe, I chuckled at some scenes from the other, and there was one I was pleasantly surprised by... and that one was Onyx 2. So I went back over the intro stage, touched it up a little...but the biggest thing I did for it was removing the facesets, which people have complained about since the day it was released (but I was too lazy to change anything).

So to summarize, Onyx 2 has a new download up, a version without the facesets. Sounds like a minor change, but considering what the facesets looked like (and how BIG they were)....some people may be quite happy with the change. I hope.

Here some screens showing off the change. A video or two may follow!

Anyway, for those who actually liked the facesets (all two of you =P), that download will remain as well.

Anyways, until next time...see ya!

PS: Complete Chaos's download count has reached 5000, and Total Chaos has reached 10,000. *plays Usher's OMG*

COMPLETE CHAOS GETS A RE-RELEASE!

I'm going to re-release this game as "Complete Chaos: Special Edition." This version fixes up some issues the first release had (such as the enemy encounters, balance issues/graphics, lack of proper directions at certain points as well as bit of the profanity), as well as contains a number of additional optional quests (which includes 3 hidden characters and 1 new bonus ending!). I am currently putting the finishing touches on the Deluxe edition and I plan to test-play through the entire game again to make sure it runs smoothly, which should take a week or two, give or take.

When I'm finished with that, I'm going to make a 10 minute gameplay trailer of the Special Edition a la Vanity.

That's all for now and I will keep you posted! The "standard" edition will still remain available.

I Lied

The full released version of Complete Chaos is still in the works, but it will not be coming out in mid-August like originally planned. HOWEVER, I only have three more dungeons to complete, and I expect to start working on one of them next week. Furthermore, the optional side quests are coming to an end. I have to finish the quest between the brothers and Fiona, as well as George's summon creatures side quests, but those shouldn't take too long.

Unfortunately, because of the game's size, the game and the guide book will be released separately.

In summary, expect this game to be released NO LATER THAN OCTOBER. If it isn't released by then, then I probably had killed myself.

[please don't take that last comment seriously]

NEW DEMO!

A short one, at least.

It's the first dungeon of a side project I'm doing, MYSTERY MAN ZERO, a dark comedy. Check it out the game's blog page for further info (and download link). The full game will probably be around 7 or 8 hours.

Thanks!

ERROR IN VANITY NOW FIXED!

Yup, there was an error in Azazel's Cult that prevented you from geting into the locked doors, even if you had the right passcode.

Hopefully it works now. VANITY'S blog page has the new links updated, so just re-download if you have to. You won't have to worry about starting your game over again, so you can keep the same save files.

VANITY COMING JUNE 20TH!!!

...The demo, at least.

I have only two days to testplay. The demo isn't terribly long, but still...I wish I had a week. lol

PS: I actually have a job now! It's where I'm typing this from. I just got in. Okay, time to work now so I can get the hell out. Later!
