SO ABOUT MYSTERY MAN ZERO...

Wow, it's been over a year since my last update. That isn't very good, is it?

Every so often, I'll get an email or message from someone asking me what's going on with Mystery Man Zero. I never saw myself using RPG Maker again, so it was really painful telling people that the game will probably never get finished. But sometime last week, it crossed my mind, and with RPG Maker 2003 finally having a legal version  released forever ago, I decided to give MMZ another go and actually finish it this time.

I bought the program a couple of days ago and spent most of my time with it re-importing my resources to the "new" project. One by one. If it sounds agonizing, let me tell you, it was.

I got all that done, so now all that's left is to copy the maps over from the old version to the new one. I thought I could copy one map and then all of the maps under that 'family' would be copied too, but noooooo, I have to copy each map individually. Fun, fun, fun.

But I shouldn't complain. Even after all these years, people still care about this game, so it really means a lot. My plan is to write out the plot by hand and then transfer it to the game. I've been pretty good with handwriting stories first, so I'm hoping this will motivate me to finally finish this. If the story is finished at least, I can chip away at the other stuff until everything is done.

I'm going to throw in so many secrets and optional content, as a way of thanking people for bugging me about this for so long.

Hang in there y'all. A full-game will be released in 2018 AT THE LATEST, so help me God.

END GAME FOR MYSTERY MAN ZERO?

For the first time in yeeeeeeeeeeeeeears, I feel like I know where this game is going. What this means is, maybe I'll have the game done by the end of the year? Does anyone still care? I've been so on/off with this game it's ridiculous. But the feedback for this game has consistently been amazing, it's really the only reason I haven't forgotten it (remember Vanity? lol).

Anyway, I leave you with this screenshot. I'm sure videos will follow at some point.

It's the 10th Friday in 2016 omg!!!!

Not getting off to a good start in terms of updates, huh? Hahahahaha Anyway, I really don't have much to report, other than I (finally) made a page for Manos the Hands of Fate! Check it out!

Just putting this video here so this blog post won't seem so empty. :)

NEW NIGHTMARE DOWNLOAD!

Why does this always happen to me? So annoying. Anyway, in the old download, Buffy was supposed to equip Crossbows and while she could, the weapon would never level up. That's been fixed now, so if you want, here's a new download if you really wanted to equip her with a crossbow.

New Download

ETA 1/16/16

There was an issue with Matt's equipment, too. So yet another download has been added. Also, there was an annoying error that happened when you tried to scan an enemy after one's been killed. Hopefully that's also been fixed.

Luckily, you don't have to start over. Still, sorry for the inconveniences!

A SITUATION WITH SUNNYDALE...

...The game is done. Over. Cancelled. I hated it so much I just ended it.

Just kidding! Actually, a beta of the game is complete. It's probably buggy af so I'm going to test play every inch of that ish. After me, I want three people to play the game, to give me their feedback before I put it out to the world and a bug count.

I know I said my last update would be the final post of 2014, but, uh, I lied. lol Merry Christmas! Eat lots and stay safe!!!

NEW GATEKEEPER DOWNLOAD

Sorry for making you guys download the game again, but VX phucked my file up and it wasn't until I got an email that I realized something was wrong.

Anyway, this file is truly stand-alone. The old one required you to have VX or VX's RTP, or both. 0.0 Anyway, this file shouldn't require any of that.

Again, so sorry!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Muahahahahahahaha! And what better way to celebrate this lovely occasion than with a demo?? It's of Gatekeeper. Enjoy!

It's a fantasy RPG with cyber-punk elements about an ordinary boy who was killed and resurrected as a gatekeeper, a god-lite entity, who has to defend himself against the Dark Child, a fellow gatekeeper who claims she is trying to protect reality by killing him and others like him.

Mystery Man Zero

Hi! How is thee summer going? Anyway, I've been working on MMZ off and on this year, but think it's "on" right now, for I have some ideas for it. That's all I really have to report, but enjoy this video and these screenshots!

Wednesday, June 12, 2013

What you are looking at here is a gameplay video of a project that is scheduled to follow 'A Nightmare in Sunnydale'. It happens to be called GATEKEEPER. This video was recorded during the last week of 2012. A few things have changed since then, but this is pretty much the gist of it.

Here are a few things you should know about Gatekeeper.

- It's an RPG.
- It's a cyberpunk RPG.
- It's a cybperpunk RPG with elements of fantasy and New Age philosophy. There may be some creepy bits thrown in there, too, by the way.
- It continues the sandbox gameplay that 'Sunnydale' has. Also has branching pathways.
- There will be a total 13 playable characters, and you can swap any of them in/out of your party at any time, battles included. There will also be two hidden characters for your chosing, potentially bringing the number of PCs to 14.
- It may or may not have a New Game+ feature.
- It was inspired by the Sierra games of old, specifically Rise of the Dragon. The Gabriel Knight series was also an influence -- and, at risk of sounding vain, Onyx! Futhermore, as you can see, it borrows its look from Vanity (remember that game?)
- Gatekeeper will be different than my other games because it is more plot-driven than character-driven, which is pretty nice for me but this is so that I get this game out in timely matter, and can finally say farewell to RPGM (I'll just be playing games instead).

Before I depart, here's a summary for your reading pleasure!

Ganymede's mortal life was cut short when he was killed in the middle of graduating college. Soon after, he is given another chance at life as a GATEKEEPER, gifted individuals who harbor inside them souls of a god-lite entities. Under the guidance of Dr. Dylan Perry, Ganymede learns about himself and his powers -- as well as befriend others like him. When the presence of another gatekeeper shows up on Perry's radar, Ganymede and his friends race to find this individual before The Dark Child does, a fearsome foe who will stop at nothing to rid the world of gatekeepers, despite being a gatekeeper herself. The mission takes a horrific turn when they are too late, and Ganymede's life is once again turned upside down. With his back against the wall, he is forced to fight back, but at what cost? And is The Dark Child his true enemy? Furthermore, what is Eden and what role does it play in all this? How can Ganymede save reality when it is his very existence that disturbs it?

GATEKEEPER is a high-modern tale that combines cyperpunk, fantasy, drama, and New Age philosophy to deliver an RPG with more twists and turns than a pretzel.

'SUNNYDALE' IS IN A SUNNY PLACE!

Oh em gee! I can't believe it has been fourteen months since my last update!!!! Wowzers. Anyway, I have been working on stuff, faithfully, I might add, but I guess I just didn't think I had anything exciting to say? New Years Resolution alert, but that will change. Initially, I only wanted to dedicate this blog to my creative projects, but I think I want to make it a little more personal, too? That way, people will get a ~taste of the REAL ADRIAN CLYDE, whoever he may be.

Without further ado, I can almost guarantee that A NIGHTMARE IN SUNNYDALE will be out this year (!). I was aiming for a Summer release, but, um, I don't see that happening. But an Autumn release could be possible, if I keep chipping away at it.

Initially, I had meant for this game to be completed in 2010, the year it was started, but so many things "got in the way", so to speak, will I will disclose later. A lot has changed with me, and I have had to prioritize other things. I didn't think I would ever get into RPGM again, but I guess I just felt the need to indulge in some healthy brain candy. I am determined to get this game out and Gatekeeper as well, which  I am really proud of, so far.

So here's the deal. For the last...two months, I think? whenever things have been slow at work (or not, such as today lolz), I have been writing out scenes for Sunnydale (and Gatekeeper, too) and when I get home, I would do a little bit of dungeon-building here, a little bit there, and it's all starting to add up now. In terms of where the storyline is, I'm basically at the endgame. After I'm done with the current dungeon, I'll be pretty much done with the "main path", sans the last dungeon. All I would have left to do would be to write out scenes for a few of the side paths, which won't be difficult because, I mean, hello, I love writing!

As far as the dungeon construction goes, that is just about finished. All I have to do is finish Billy Loomis's dungeon, and the final one. That's it. Dungeon construction is by far my least favorite thing, so I just wanted to get it all over with. I figured if I could do away with that, then it would all but solidify 'Sunnydale's release.

I haven't updated the demon library yet, but that's the easiest part for me, so it's no big.

All in all, the end is definitely near. I'm pretty pumped about possibly having another finished game out there. No more demos for me. I contemplated releasing a demo of Gatekeeper, but nope! Demos have a tendency of slowing things down, because you start to get hyper obsessing about promoting your game and seeing what people are saying about it that you start to neglect your game, and that, my friends, is never good.

Onto other stuff. Really, the reason I've been so slow with RM stuff is because for the last two years, I've been working on something of a novel (which is 1000x better written than this blog post, I assure you). THE UNSEEN, it is called, a psychological horror-fantasy tale about a band of friends and their struggle to overcome a soul-sucking demon who compensates for its incorporeality by exploiting and feeding off their greatest and darkest fears. It is based on a REALLY shitty screenplay I wrote three years ago, but I thought the idea had some potential so I had decided to give it another ago (actually, the idea decided to give *me* another go; for six months, it just wouldn't get out of my head!). When I started writing the first draft in December 2010, I described it as "The Evil Dead" meets "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and"Silent Hill", but while it is still all of those things, last summer, I had a Neon Genesis Evangelion marathon (the first in over a DECADE omg), and The Unseen has since taken on much different path than I originally thought it would, which is actually a wonderful thing because the inspiration that NGE gave me helped mold The Unseen into the story I intended it to be (so many times I would hit a "block", forcing me to take a break from it and do something else; it was put on hiatus three times, the longest one lasting six months). It has been a long and hard two-and-a-half years, but there may be a light at the end of the tunnel yet. I am currently revising my third draft and if I'm pleased with the results, I'll start hunting for editors and/or outside feedback. At the moment, I am very, very happy with this draft, but we shall see what the future beholds. The last time I read the first half of the manuscript was in November 2012, so, um, this process may last a while, haha.

I haven't forgotten about Total Chaos, well, not entirely. I'm going to go back to onlining it this week (along with Goblin, hopefully). I have a really cool premise in mind for it. In the end, I'm not sure how much of TC's SOURCE MATERIAL is going to be used, and all of the characters will definitely be involved (although some (Lindsay Lohan) will obviously be renamed), but this new idea is going to be so much more involved than the "original", and I can't wait to start on it. It's going to be camp, it's going to be part-satire (basically of things/types of people that bug me *to no end*), but it's also going to have a lot of hart. Basically, it's going to be BIG.  It just gets hard sometimes trying to juggle multiple writing projects, since my time is so limited because of my job (gotta pay the bills y'all). I really only have time to read The Unseen on weekends, so that gives me a few hours during the week to devote to other stuff I like, such outlining my next projects. Currently, I've been outlining (albeit off-and-on) Goblin, Dreamlover, and Total Chaos all at once, which has been totally easy all the time! Goblin, horror/comedy, and Dreamlover (which may or may not have been inspired by a Mariah Carey song lol), horror/sci fi/romance/fantasy/psychological, will get their own updates when I'm further into developing them.

COMPLETE CHAOS REACHES 4000 DOWNLOADS!!!

4042, to be exact.

Today, Complete Chaos: Special Edition has reached over 4000 downloads, according to MediaFire.Which means, it has beat Onyx 2's total download count (3700+) in just a two months of release, versus the latter's three years of release. Furthermore, this makes Complete Chaos my third highest downloaded game ever.

Another fun fact: just last week Total Chaos' total download count has risen to 9800+, beating out Onyx's 9700+ and becoming my highest downloaded game ever. Whoo-hoo!

Minor note, but the "standard edition" of Complete Chaos has 1040+ downloads. It rose to about 1000 before the release of the Special Edition.

I'm not sure where these downloads are coming from, but I'm certainly thankful, and I hope the players are enjoying the game. Thanks so much, guys! =D

I Lied. Again.

Complete Chaos will not be coming out this month. You can thank school for that.

HOWEVER, I only have one more dungeon to do, so it will be here shortly. I won't say when, because when I give myself a "due date," I fuck up, and don't get it done. But just know that it will be here. And soon.

Mystery Man Zero will follow, with Vanity not too far behind.

Also, expect to see some gameplay videos of Complete Chaos in the new future!

I Lied

The full released version of Complete Chaos is still in the works, but it will not be coming out in mid-August like originally planned. HOWEVER, I only have three more dungeons to complete, and I expect to start working on one of them next week. Furthermore, the optional side quests are coming to an end. I have to finish the quest between the brothers and Fiona, as well as George's summon creatures side quests, but those shouldn't take too long.

Unfortunately, because of the game's size, the game and the guide book will be released separately.

In summary, expect this game to be released NO LATER THAN OCTOBER. If it isn't released by then, then I probably had killed myself.

[please don't take that last comment seriously]

ERROR IN VANITY NOW FIXED!

Yup, there was an error in Azazel's Cult that prevented you from geting into the locked doors, even if you had the right passcode.

Hopefully it works now. VANITY'S blog page has the new links updated, so just re-download if you have to. You won't have to worry about starting your game over again, so you can keep the same save files.

VANITY COMING JUNE 20TH!!!

...The demo, at least.

I have only two days to testplay. The demo isn't terribly long, but still...I wish I had a week. lol

PS: I actually have a job now! It's where I'm typing this from. I just got in. Okay, time to work now so I can get the hell out. Later!
