OKAY, SO, LIKE, WHO ARE YOU?
I am many things, some good and bad (mostly good), but no matter what, I am always Gary Benjamin Holt The Sequel (or "Jr.,"). I was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Deborah and Gary Holt The Original (or "Sr."), on the fifteenth of February, 1988. For about a year and five months, I enjoyed being spoiled rotten by my parents and Big Sister Gorgeous One until July forth, where lil' sis entered the picture. I imagine it didn't go over too well. Initially, that is!
My life has been perfectly ordinary, which is why I spend most of it in my head. I started writing comic books when I was a wee child back in the days of Powhatan Elementary. The hobby followed me to Pikesville Middle School, where drawing comic books took a backseat to making RPG Maker games. By the time I started attending Milford Mill Academy, I had begun writing screenplays, while still fooling around with RPG Maker on the side (because it's FUN, okay?!). Sadly, the comic book thing sort of fell off after my tenth grade year when I realized I couldn't draw all that well, but it had good run, yeah?
Since graduating college, I have decided to pursue a career in writing. I finished my first manuscript in July of 2011, and there is still a long journey ahead, which I fully embrace.I moved to New York City in April, 2012, and I'm lovin' it. Was loving it, anyway, until life struck me down in the form of a Mercedes SUV. I was sent back to Baltimore, where I spent all of 2014 recovering mentally and physically from THE ACCIDENT, which was kind of great, because I didn't realize how much I missed my niece and nephews! As of Feb 2015, I am back in Brooklyn, and overjoyed that I was able to bounce back the way I did, and in (relevantly) short time!
THAT'S ALL VERY NICE, BUT WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ACTUALLY DO?
I write, which, as I can imagine, must be a huge surprise, given the content on this blog, but yes, that's basically the gist of it. In the future, I want to be a filmmaker, but at the moment, I am concentrating my efforts on writing, for I am either not good at, or interested in, any other profession. Another dream of mine is to write an RPG series, because, I mean, wouldn't that be cool?
A question I am asked frequently is if I am a musician. I am not, which kind of blows, because I love music and would make some of my own if I had the talent.
